The collaborative Philadelphia artists reference the existing architecture as subject for extended variations on structure and line, substance and shadow, volume and void, motion and stillness. Constructivist geometry of sculptural elements and the movement of projected sound and video create a type of visual acrobatics, heightening the viewer’s awareness of the “natural” room and its ever-changing light and shifting moods. Overlapping this experience, the artists created a world of aesthetic invention that engages the viewers’ imaginative participation. Catalogue, essay by Susan Kunimatsu.
