John Bisbee draws in steel, welding and bending steel spikes into repetitive shapes that form monumental structures of topographic proportion. Three Tons refers to the weight of thousands of spikes welded together in intricate configurations, creating a tension between order and chaos. The physical weight of the steel is denied by the patterning and complex shapes accumulating on the floor and ascending the gallery walls. Catalogue, essay by Frances DeVuono.
